What is the FreeStyle Lite system?
The FreeStyle Lite system is the newest offering of the FreeStyle® family of blood glucose testing products. The FreeStyle Lite meter and FreeStyle Lite test strips offer all of the benefits of FreeStyle technology, plus no coding.
How is the FreeStyle Lite system different from other FreeStyle products?
The FreeStyle Lite system offers the following new features:
- No coding – One less step
- World’s smallest sample size – Less pain with proven accuracy
- Small meter for discreet testing
- Both backlight and port light – Test even in low light
Can the FreeStyle Lite system be used to test on alternative test sites?
Yes, the FreeStyle Lite system has the most approved number of alternative test sites of any competitive meter. With the FreeStyle Lite system you can test on fingertips, forearms, upper arms, thighs, calves, and hands. However, when testing for hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) or if you have hypoglycemia unawareness, we recommend testing on the finger only.
Does the FreeStyle Lite system offer the palm/finger equivalency claim?
No, the FreeStyle Lite system does not claim palm/finger equivalency.
Can I test on my palm?
Yes, the palm is an acceptable alternative test site. However, when testing for hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) or if you have hypoglycemia unawareness, we recommend testing on the finger only.
How large are the numbers on the FreeStyle Lite meter display?
The height of the glucose number is 10mm, and the length of the glucose reading is 17mm. The entire LCD display is 19mm height x 24mm length.
How many reminder alarms are built into the FreeStyle Lite meter?
There are four optional programmable reminder alarms in the FreeStyle Lite meter. The reminder alarms are designed to turn on daily. There are three sound settings for each alarm - off, low and high.
Does the FreeStyle Lite system require its own special lancets?
No, the FreeStyle Lite system uses the same FreeStyle lancets as all FreeStyle systems.
Does the FreeStyle Lite system require its own special control solution?
No, the FreeStyle Lite system uses the same FreeStyle control solution as all FreeStyle systems.
What kind of batteries does the FreeStyle Lite meter use?
The FreeStyle Lite meter uses one CR2032 "coin cell" battery, which is commonly available where batteries are sold.
Can I upload results from the FreeStyle Lite system into a data management system?
Yes, the FreeStyle Lite system is compatible with the CoPilot™ Health Management System and Precision Link® Direct Diabetes Data Management System.
